Hosting your first weekly game

Hosting on PitchUp means you book the pitch and the app helps you fill the squad. No more group chats, chasing people for money or ringing round for a tenth player at 6 pm. Here is how to run your first weekly game well, from picking a slot to building a reputation.

Become a host

Anyone with a PitchUp account can apply. Tell us where you want to host and how to reach you, and we reply within 24 to 48 hours. Once approved, you get the host panel.

Before your first game

• Pick a regular slot. The same day and time every week builds a loyal group.
• Choose the format that suits the pitch: 5v5, 6v6 or 11v11.
• Set a fair price. In Budapest, most games cost 2,000 to 3,000 Ft a spot. Cover the pitch and keep it competitive.
• Write clear notes about the entrance, parking and changing rooms. Most first-time players get lost at big sports complexes.

Filling the squad

Once you post the game, players across Budapest can find and book it. Share the match link with friends and regulars too. Games with a few names in them fill faster, because new players like to see who is coming.

On the day

• Arrive early to check the pitch and greet players. You set the tone.
• Use the host panel to manage players, check-ins and payments.
• Make balanced teams so the game is close.
• Welcome new players and make sure they get the ball early.

Handling cancellations

Players can cancel from the app. With 24 hours' notice they get a full refund, between 6 and 24 hours 50%, and under 6 hours none. When someone cancels, the next player on the waitlist gets the spot. If you have to cancel, players get a full refund, so do it as early as you can.

Build your reputation

Players rate their hosts. Run good games consistently and you earn badges and become a top-rated host, which makes your games fill faster. Hosts can also run leagues and cups once they have a regular group.
